shoot and edit / before and after

A couple of days ago I shared this photo as my SOOC:
I liked it....a lot.  I maybe should've tried editing a photo before choosing a SOOC for this challenge, because I had a hard time with this one.  Here's what I came up with:
I warmed it up in Camera Raw, cropped, added a soft light layer at about 70%, and added a screen layer at 33%.
Then just for fun...I added PW Seventies Action, Betty Jo's Dirty Linen (yes....I use this a LOT...I love the fabricy / canvasy look).
Then I added the text.
(my entry for pixel perfect)

My dream is to grow as a photographer.  I LOVE capturing the world through my lens, I am constantly surprised at what I've been capable of so far.....and I have so much to learn.  I love capturing my children, and I hope to have some beautiful images of their daily lives, not just the "dolled up" moments, but everyday snapshots turned beautiful.

Thanks for stopping by!

Go over to Ramblings and Photos for some more edits!

And Pixel Perfect for another before and after blog hop!

I love what you've done with textures but seriously, just those few small enhancements really made your photo pop. I was the same way with my SOOC shot but processing doesn't mean that you have to over-do it, just make it a little better. I like to think of it as my modern dark room! Have an awesome day!

Oh, it's lovely!! I think I especially like that you cropped it. The SOOC is so very lovely, but I think bringing it closer really made a great difference! Love all of the texture!

I love how that seedhead popped in your edit and how you used those different textures. I love that linen texture by Betty Jo aswell on my painterly photographs.

Your first edit - the "clean-up" one - Perfect!! I love the warm colors on the cold subject!

That's also a pretty neat texture you used!

And I'm no pro, but I've realized that more of the "simple" clean edits are all that's needed, and not even that sometimes! And if you do keep shooting, you'll learn more and more and you will have a great story to show of your kids' growing up!

I love your first edit because of the way the details and the color just pop out, but I love your additional edits too, they're all great! Thank you for sharing!
